Learning to Cook...

This is not a cooking blog.  If it was, anyone who read this blog would be highly disappointed.  BUT, I did make a pretty edible dinner the other night and thought it was worth mentioning.

First, I have to admit that back in my single girl days I survived on Lean Cuisines and Special K. But now I have a man to feed.  And apparently they cannot survive on cereal or microwavable meals.

So, I have officially decided to step it up in the cooking department!  This past Sunday we invited my parents over to join us for dinner.  I tried out the Pioneer Woman’s Grilled Chicken with Lemon Basil Pasta and it was… good!  My dad even had seconds = )  It wasn’t perfect,  but I will go ahead and chalk it up as a win.  The best part of the meal was definitely the wine, conversation and brownies and ice-cream my Mom brought for dessert.   As for my skills in the kitchen, there is always room for improvement... P.S. I am always looking for a good EASY recipe, so if you've got any please send them my way!

Thunder Thursday

We love the Thunder!  In honor of the season starting and the Thunder just being plain awesome, I have posted some of my favorite pics from the past couple of years.

Michael and I the night we got on Kiss Cam!  We hadn’t been dating long & my parents were at the game to witness it…  so I guess you could say it was also the night my parents met Michael...

Rumble!  Later this night was actually the first time my parents met Michael face to face, not just by seeing him on the big screen.

Play-Offs vs. the Lakers (Booooooooo!)

My Parents in matching t-shirts = )

Rumble AGAIN.

Lookin Good NJ!

I took Norma Jean to Lucky Dog Lodge this week for a little pampering! She looked pretty fabulous after her grooming so I decided we definitely needed a picture.

P.S. The only way I could get her to participate was by bribing her with a cookie. She can be such a diva sometimes...

Weekend Wonderings

This weekend the weather was beautiful so Michael and I decided to go downtown and explore.  Our first stop was Coffeeslingers where we got the most delicious coffee ever.  Seriously, that stuff is GOOD.  We played on our iPhones and people watched.  We even saw local OKC celeb Wayne Coyne a couple tables over.  We felt pretty hip.  After that we went over to 9th street to Shop Good and had to stop at The Womb and take some pictures, since we just had coffee with Wayne and all...  After that we made our first visit to The Oklahoma City Museum of Art.  It was awesome -The Chihuly exhibit was beautiful and we loved checking out the rest of the museum.   We will definitely be going back as new exhibits come and go.  It was a great weekend and it was fun to take in some of the culture that OKC has to offer.  Oh yea, and after the museum we stopped on a patio to have some wine, can't forget that form of art!

2011 Review

2011 was a big one for us!  It will definitely be remembered as a wonderful year.  A few of our favorite highlights:
  • We got engaged in January!
  • We started planning a wedding: dates, dresses, flowers, cakes... etc.
  • In an addition to getting engaged and planning a wedding my sweet husband ran a couple of half-marathons (the A2A, Memorial and Route 66)
  • He also worked on his MBA at OBU.  He is pretty amazing.
  • We spent a big part of the year celebrating our engagement with friends and families.
  • We attended and were in several of our best friends weddings.
  • Oh yea, I turned the big 3-0!
  • We supported the Thunder and the Sooners.
  • We got Married!
  • I got a Mr.
  • And a new last name - Hello Mrs. Dickinson!  (Which also means I got a new email, drivers license, social security card, passport, new office door, and the list goes on.)
  • We honeymooned to St. Lucia.  I want to go back...
  • We celebrated our first holiday season as Mr. and Mrs.
  • And we  ended the year by signing a contract on a new home on Christmas Eve Eve!
After writing this I want a say a prayer of thanks and take a nap!  It was a very exciting blessed year and I cannot wait to see what 2012 holds.

Happy New Year to everyone!  May 2012 be your best year yet!
