Valentine's Day: Mr. Edition

This is Michael and I on our first Valentine’s Day together.  I love looking at it and remembering how excited I was to be spending Valentine’s with him… and how I looked everywhere for that dress!  It’s funny how it was only a couple of years ago but I think we look so young...
That year we went out for a fancy dinner, but now have ended up making a tradition of staying in on the holiday.  Along with this has come the tradition of heart shaped meat (rib-eye that is).  It is the perfect combination that makes both me (the lover of all mushy V-Day stuff) and Michael (the lover of meat) happy on Valentine’s Day.  I get the meat at Rhett’s Meat Market and it is delicious (and cute).  So if the saying is true that the only way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, I think this dinner is just perfect.
I’m thinking about ending the meal with something sweet from Whole Foods…because you have to have chocolate on Valentine’s.  It’s a rule.  If I get brave I might even try to bake something myself…
I am beyond thankful to be spending Valentine’s with my HUSBAND this year.  Someday I know we will end up like this. Love you Michael  = )

Valentine's Day: Norma Jean Editon

I love Valentine's Day.  I just do.  It's a great excuse to show the people you love how much they mean to you... even your furry friends.

This past weekend I made a stop at The Barking Dog Bakery in OKC.  I wasn't planning to stop, but as I drove down May Avenue their cute Valentine's Day display caught my eye.  The doggy bakery offers homemade doggy treats, Birthday cakes (I'm thinking one is a must for Norma's 5th B-Day celebration in June.  Mark your calendars)  frozen yogurt and....  special Valentine's day treats for your pup.  It is a super cute little spot and I think Norma Jean really enjoys the cookies... I know Norma Jean really enjoys the cookies.

I am also thinking about splurging on a new collar for Norm, and I think Valentine's Day will be the perfect time to do so. I've had a hard time finding cute collars for big dogs, but came across these from My Mascot  and I think they are perfect. And preppy. And pretty.

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!

~ Hamilton Wright Mabie

Michael and I couldn't ask for a better first Christmas as a married couple.   The holiday was filled with lots of time with our families, food and fun .  We decided to celebrate our "first" Christmas the weekend before by making a homemade feast, listening to Christmas music and exchanging gifts.  Norma Jean even got a stocking and her very own can of soft dog food (quite the treat).

On Christmas Eve Eve we went down to Ardmore  and spent a couple of days visiting family, eating, playing board games, attending a candlelight church service and watching some pretty amazing Dickinson home videos.  It was relaxing and great.  We then made our way back to Edmond Christmas day where we got to celebrate with my family and stuff ourselves with some more great food.  We ended the day by going downtown with my parents to watch the Thunder play their first game of the season.  It was a Very Merry Christmas!

A Very Cozy Christmas Party

Michael and I went to a Cozy Christmas party last Friday and it was FUN.  We got to catch up with good friends, drink some wine, and play dirty Santa all while wearing our PJs.   Who knew flannel could be so fun?  We had a blast and can't wait until next year.  Also, Michael insisted on wearing his silk robe to the party.  He said it was manly.  Like Hugh Hefner.  Merry Christmas!
